Any experience with commission based affiliate marketing for social influencers? Tips or suggestions?

I have a company that I would like to have it’s products promoted through social media influencers.

I know most affiliate marketing with influencers is done by either giving them a product to use and have then share their experience, or by paying them to post up an image or story.

Our products range between $4,000-$10,000 and I think a better approach for longevity and impact is through commission. I am thinking that I would pay the influencer a percentage of commission for the sales they generate instead of just paying for a straight post. Everything is tracked through codes and links.

Has anyone tried or experienced this type of affiliate relationship with influencer marketing? If so, any tips or suggestions?
