Miny.app - simple privacy-friendly URL shortener

Hello there, Most of the free URL shorteners out there on the internet are not privacy-focused (ie they track you and everyone who clicked on your short links), so I decided to create one myself :). Miny.app is an always free, simple, fast, and privacy-focused link shortener, it also allows you to create custom links that are easy to remember and share. I hope you will like it and use it too.

Can I have lots of affiliate links?

Hi! While I've researched affiliate marketing before, I've never actually done it myself so a lot of these questions may seem pretty trivial to some experienced in the field, so please bear with me.

A little background: My idea is essentially a unique shopping experience - I'm not providing anything of "value" to the customer (i.e. I'm not writing a blog post about how great the product is) besides the shopping experience. I am a software engineer by trade, and have written mobile apps before, so the tech part isn't really a concern for me (in fact, as a proof of concept I already wrote 90% of the code! Fully functional, besides some bugs I need to workout)

I need to populate my app with products, and the nature of shopping through an online store is more products, the better - keep the user engaged for longer. My questions are as follows:

Will affiliate marketing programs not let me in if I'm not writing blog posts or anything about the product? quite literally, I built a webscraper to scrape the products off sellers sites, and then put it in my database to serve to my app - their link is placed (which I intend to replace with an affiliate link) and credit (i.e. "This product was found on WEBSITE. would you like to continue with your purchase?") is also given, but I am still not sure if this is allowed.

Second, how many affiliate links am I allowed to take out at once? I'm not talking about a trivial amount, I want as many as possible. I am open to the fact that I might need to start with products that aren't affiliate links and are just regular links to the products, but eventually I would like as many as possible affiliate links.

Thanks in advance! Sorry if these questions seem a bit naive, I'm brand new in this space but I would like to try to release my app without violating any laws / regulations about relisting products and such. Any info you have would be kindly appreciated.

Why is a HubSpot-hosted website more secure than a WordPress site?

The way in which a website’s security, or lack thereof, can be exploited is dependent on the method or goal of the attacker and the ways in which the website can be compromised.

Looking for help - Selling hits versus affiliate commission

Hey, I'm looking for some advice and feedback - any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (I really apologise if this is the wrong sub, but it's the nearest I can find - r/PPC seems to be tailored towards the other end of the model).

I run a few websites which appeal to various industries/locations. I'm hoping to monetise them by selling clicks through to websites directly to businesses. I've been looking everywhere online for resources regarding this (not sure if I'm just searching for the wrong thing), but I don't seem to be able to find any resources.

I'll keep the example of what I'll be doing simple. (Made-up site example): I review hotels in New York, good following, people are interested in my site. I will then approach small hotels in New York and charge them $1 for each click to their booking site which has come from my site. Let's say I generate 30 clicks through to a particular hotel from my site, I then invoice the hotel $30 at the end of the month.

My background is in sales so I have no problem approaching businesses directly. Yes, it will be more time consuming in the short-term but I'm hoping that by the end of the year, I'd have plenty of businesses signed up across the various websites.

The pros for businesses: They get targeted, cheaper than Facebook/Google Ads visitors to their site. A lot of business owners don't have a clue what affiliate marketing is and wouldn't know about setting up a program - I don't want to educate them, I'd find it far smoother to sell them on warm $1 clicks through to their sites. ($1 as an example, to keep it simple). I've already spoken to a couple of local businesses who would give it a go.

Pros for me: I can promote the exact hotel, as well as retain all of the ad spend without a middle platform. If I send 50 leads through to a business one month, I can them bill them for the $50. No point in me writing an article about a particular hotel if the display ad shows an irrelevant one. Besides, the link will be written in an organic way, without it appearing like a banner ad.

I'm just worried because this seems too simple to be true. What are the major drawbacks I'm missing? The thing that is holding me back is that, no matter which way I look at it, I can't see any glaring negatives, and I'm seeing that as a sign that I'm perhaps not looking at it from the right perspective. If I'm getting 5-10K hits a day across all websites, and I can convert a small percentage of that into clicks, then I could easily be generating good revenue from it.

Thank you for reading - I'm grateful. Anything obvious I'm missing? Any good resources to check out?

Bought an expired domain with indexes, backlinks, referring domains, etc... do I go after more competitive keywords?

Hey all,

So I bought an expired domain in my niche. It has a DR of 13, 46 backlinks and 23 referring domains.

Since the domain and it’s back links are related to the same niche I’m going to be working with, is it worth it to tackle keywords with more competition? I see on ahrefs there’s keywords with KD scores of 20 and stuff I could technically target, instead of more long tail ones with 150 views and KD of 0-3.

Do these backlinks and scores actually give me an advantage to writing content focusing higher volume/more competitive words?

Just looking for some advice before I sent some keywords to my content writer

Cheers
