Words carry power within them.
I’m Chris and it’s safe to say that I’m a successful affiliate marketer. I’ll show you what are power words and how to use them in your ads, landing pages, emails or else…
Power words are just simple words that you use to increment the intensity of the event you’re describing.
Take the example above: “I Bought a Lambo VS I Bought a Car”. You’re with your friends and you tell them that you bought a car, how do you think they’d react? They’d be glad for you, congratulate you, maybe ask to see a picture of the car and in 2-3 minutes your brand new card is forgotten. Now imagine that you tell them that you got a Lambo… Exactly, everybody goes nuts.
That’s how it works in your marketing texts too. You want your reader to go nuts. You want your reader to click your “call to action” button, you want him to do what you want him to do. And power words increase the chances of that.
You can juggle with the intensity of power words. Here’s a good exercise that I recommend you to do when writing copy. Take a look of how I write my headlines.
I go from the least powerful words to the most intense word. For the sake of the content I’ll go with the same example as above.
· I bought a car
· I bought an expensive car
· I bought a very expensive car
· I bought an exotic car
· I bought a Lambo
Then you start adapting your headline (of course you got to keep it real and believable):
· I bought a Lambo
· I bought myself a Lambo
· I bought myself a Lambo in less than 2 weeks
· I bought myself a Lambo in less than 2 weeks doing this one thing
· … and so on
Of course you need to stop when the headline is exaggerated and you cannot show proof of it. That’s clickbait and people don’t like that.
Now… power words are not only for headlines. You should always use them, even when you talk. Power words grab and keep attention.
Stay safe guys!
