Hey we own a soy candle business. We hand-pour all of our candles and wax melts. We are a new business and looking for some traction.
So this post is only intended on gathering information. I am considering starting an affiliate program and just want to be sure it is right for my business based upon your professional experience.
We are looking to sell a monthly subscription to our customers. So, I was wondering how I would pay out affiliates. Would it be best to do a one time pay out rather than recurring commissions? Or would an affiliate expect a pay out monthly?
-I have calculated our margins and we would be able to pay out a $10 flat rate on a monthly recurring basis.
-A one time pay out would encourage more sales so we would pay out a larger portion. Our margins suggest a $25 pay out for each sale.
I am looking for some guidance here from experienced marketers. What is the general outlook on subscription based commissions? What is your experience on working with new businesses? What all do I need to consider when on-boarding affiliates?

We launched a month ago and have only run Facebook ads which is a known cold traffic source. Therefore, we do not have enough reliable data yet to gather meaningful insight, but for what it’s worth our website currently converts at 2%. I am confident if we can get the right clientele trafficking our space, our website and store is designed and optimized for high conversion rates.
Let me know what you think of our company website and if it would be attractive to marketers.
Really guys, any tips would make us grateful. Thanks for your time.
